Wendy Sue Horn, LCSW
I help people understand and conquer their fears and worries so that they can feel more connected, calm, and happy. I am privileged to help people overcome the things that have been a burden in their lives and watch as change occurs and my clients are able to experience more joy and ease in their everyday lives. I feel very rewarded by my work and privileged to witness people’s courageous journey of growth and self-improvement. My inspiration for this work is constantly being fed by the experiences I have with clients as they shift from feelings of worry, shame, inadequacy and self doubt to feeling calm, strong, capable, and worthy. I have an active and engaging style and believe that providing skills and education is just as important as creating a safe and warm environment to increase insight and self-awareness. I believe that therapy is a powerful tool and should be used as efficiently as possible. In my clinical practice, the goal for any client is to not need to come to therapy anymore and at the same time know that help is there for them if they need it.
I have a special interest and expertise in working with issues of anxiety and trauma. In addition to treating adolescents, couples and families, I have helped many women who are struggling with prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety, have had traumatic labor and birth experiences, or have faced fertility challenges.
My education is in child development and psychology with a Masters in Social Work. I have specialized, advanced training in EMDR including certification through EMDRIA, certification from Postpartum Support International in the specialized treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, certification from The Happiest Baby as a parent educator, as well as extensive training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral therapy. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker #27961.
